BC Marine Service Industry - The Boat and Yacht Professionals
The recreational marine industry is one of BC’s largest and most vital industries. It includes boat manufacturing and repair yards, marinas, marine sales and a range of other businesses related to pleasure crafting. The marine industry operates year round, with a peak season from spring to early fall. The industry employs thousands of British Columbians and will need almost 200 more workers by 2010.
Quadrant Marine Institute
Quadrant Marine Institute Inc. is a private marine institute providing training for boat and yacht building, repair and maintenance. Quadrant delivers apprenticeship training for technicians employed in the recreational marine industry, and pre-employment training for newcomers to this exciting field.
North Island College
North Island College’s Marine Training Centre offers programs and courses for both the commercial and recreational marine industry.
Camosun College
Camosun College’s Nautical Department regularly schedules Transport Certificate upgrading courses for Master Limited 60 Ton, Watchkeeping Mate and more.
Pacific Marine Training Institute – British Columbia Institute of Technology
PMTI offers a number of courses on marine engineering, navigation and electronic skills development. As a fully-accredited, provincial learning institute, BCIT has a number of programs that will provide access to jobs within the recreational marine industry.
